As farmers, we realize we aren’t the only grass fed beef farmers who serve the New York, New Jersey, and Connecticut areas. And we know that some customers might be looking for the farmer who would be the perfect fit for them.
Since you know that we aren’t interested in a winner-takes-all form of local agriculture where our farm grows to the exclusion of others, here are some of the best options for home delivery of grass fed and grass finished beef for folks living in New York City and the surrounding areas of New Jersey, Long Island, and Connecticut. All of these farms stick to the same standards for grass fed, grass finished, no grain beef that we support on our farm.
1. Cairncrest Farm
I have to list these guys first because I have come to know and respect Ed and Garth, the two brothers who operate this farm, over many years. I’ve seen them farming through good times and bad. I know that they have a solid desire to produce the best grass fed beef while also creating a regenerative landscape on their farm. Some of the most enjoyable meals I’ve eaten have been at their table. Check out their farm blog while you’re at it, for thoughtful essays on everything from food policy, to recipes, to tree planting. They delivery to homes in New York, New England, New Jersey, and Eastern Pennsylvania every week from their farm in West Exeter, NY.
2. Acabonac Farms
Acobanac Farms is located in the eastern end of Long Island. They raise grass fed beef cattle on some of the last agricultural acreage left on Long Island. It is hard to imagine these days that Long Island used to be prime farmland, but residential construction has swallowed most of it up, ending up with just a few pockets of preserved land. Home delivery is available throughout the New York Metro area.
3. Cotton Cattle Company
Located in New Jersey just a few miles from the PA border, Cotton Cattle Company grazes grass fed and grass finished beef cattle on their pastures and delivers their products throughout NJ, NY, PA, CT, DE, MA, MD, VT, DC. They offer some really innovative products in partnerships with local food producers.
4. Beaver Brook Ranch
Beaver Brook Ranch sells grass fed and grass finished beef from their farm in Hope, NJ. Their products are available for home delivery as well. Note that their website focus primarily on selling large packages of grass fed beef, such as 1/8 and 1/4 shares.
So these are four great options you might consider for grass fed beef in New York City and the surrounding area. If you’d like to read more about grass fed and grass finished beef, here are some other resources we’ve written:
Of course, we don’t want to turn away anybody interested in buying our grass fed beef. If you’d like to place an order, we would gladly deliver some to you.
